CMS Announced Today Deadline Extension for 2015 EHR Meaningful Use Attestation

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced today that it has extended the attestation deadline for the Medicare and Medicaid Meaningful Use/EHR Incentive Programs to Friday, March 11, 2016. The original deadline was Monday, February 29.

Providers must attest to Meaningful Use of EHRs for a reporting period of 90 days between Jan. 1, 2015, to Dec. 31, 2015.

For providers with existing EHR software who are planning to attest for Meaningful Use this year, there is an option to fill out a hardship exemption. The deadline for the exemption did not change the deadline for the application, which is March 15, 2016.
